 Cross Hills Gardens Country Fair

Do join us on a day road trip! Cross Hills Gardens Country Fair – Saturday 15 November 2025 9.30am – 5.00pm (Entry $20 pp) – Meet at 9.30am Silverstream Railway Station (east side). Janet Sleith, Chris Sangster, Gill Barnett and Selena are planning a day road trip to the Cross Hills Gardens Country Fair in Kimbolton, near Feilding in the Manawatu. Be prepared for over 200 craft and food stalls!  Great for Christmas presents! Email Selena if you would like to come, can take a car/be a driver or would like someone to drive you, or organise a car full and let me know. Cross Hills Gardens is world renowned for its many varieties of rhododendrons and azaleas. We’ll stop for morning tea at the Horseman’s Café in Shannon along the way. (The lovely Beyond Coffee café in Feilding has been turned into a Vietnamese restaurant.) We head over the coast via Transmission Gully and take the SH56 route behind Levin, through Shannon and then turning off a side road before Palmerston North to get to Kimbolton via SH54. If time on the way home, we have an optional stop in Paraparaumu or Raumati for afternoon tea or an icecream by the beach and a look around the boutiques! If the weather has been wet, wear waterproof walking shoe footwear or gumboots that you don’t mind getting dirty! I’m on the Cross Hills Fair subscriber list and will set up a Messenger chat in case there is a cancellation. Alternative wet weather option: If the weather is very wet, we’ll make a call when we arrive at Silverstream to go to the Black Shed just out of Otaki, Reds Café for lunch, Otaki outlet stores and Kapiti Coast shops instead.

Map to the Cross Hills gardens via SH1, Highways 56 and 54 here. Allow 2 hours 20 minutes to get there (with no stops).
